Ability & Fitness

In order to enjoy the challenging and varied terrain at Valhalla Powdercats, we require each person to have advanced or expert skiing/riding skills.

What do we mean by that? Experience in powder is a must! In the mountains, with a group of people who have expectations about ability levels, is not the place to learn.

  • There are no groomed runs in the back-country. Be prepared to ride deep powder, or its less forgiving variations.
  • If you enjoy riding Black and Double Black Diamond runs, then you should have no problem skiing our terrain.
  • We ride anywhere from 12,000 - 15,000 feet per day so you will need to be in good physical condition, especially on multi day trips.
  • You dream of tree skiing. The Kootenays are renowned as the world’s best tree skiing, and we do lots of it!
  • If you are unable to keep up with the group you may be asked to sit out and will not be reimbursed for any missed time in the cat.

** Remember, you can book a private cat with as many people as you like - the price is fixed. This applies to groups that also want to go slower and take their time.
